The Common Room is a small neighbourhood book club. We meet at a local pub to talk about a book, eat something nice and have a glass of wine (or a pot of tea). Mostly we want to make real friends close to home.

who we are
A book club that is really about friends
We started The Common Room because making friends as a grown-up is hard, and a book gives everyone something to talk about. It's for women in their 30s (roughly) living around Highams Park and Woodford who love reading and love food just as much.
Think Stars Hollow, but in E4. You'll see the same friendly faces every month, you'll get to know your neighbours, and nobody checks whether you finished the book.
We're starting small and local. If it grows, lovely. For now it's a table at the pub and a few new friends.

Our first meeting
The Royal Oak in Highams Park has a lovely garden for sunny afternoons and a warm inside room for evenings. It's an easy walk from Highams Park station and a short bus ride from Woodford.
Meet-ups are either on a weekday evening or on a Saturday during the day. We'll mix them up so everyone can make some of them.
You don't need to bring anything except yourself. At the first meeting we'll say hello and pick our first book together.
